Let's get into some proper music now and deal with the bass. Did I just reveal some bias there? So we’ve got our section which we decided was going to be our drum groove and then we duplicated that but the cool thing is that now we have the ability to raise velocities or bring the volume level up or even edit all sorts of stuff in this new section without affecting the original groove. The way we would teach this is when the students come to this task the next time around, we’d analyse the bass which gives us an opportunity to talk about synthesised bass or keyboard bass, low register and long notes and prominent dynamics. Again, we'd be trying to draw it out for the students. It takes the pressure off because now it just means that we've just gotta put some long notes in and we don't have to worry too much. In the description below we’ve provided a link to a guided listening template that you can use for your students. We’ll be using the completed version to speed things up today. We’ve also provided a link to the official lyric video for ‘Heat Waves’ by Glass Animals, so let’s now pause this video and follow the links in the description, having a listen for the bass.
